Ministerial Delegation Visits the El Haouzia Desalination Plant

Groundbreaking Innovations in Water Desalination Unveiled in El Haouzia
In a context marked by increasing pressure on water resources, a field visit was organized on Wednesday, April 15, in the town of El Haouzia, located in the El Jadida province. This event was led by a ministerial delegation representing the Ministry of Equipment and Water and included various media outlets. The focus of the visit was to explore the mobile seawater desalination stations established in the region.
This meeting provided an opportunity to closely examine the different components of these innovative infrastructures designed to address the challenges of potable water supply. During the occasion, Mr. Mehdi Marsali, the project manager at the Regional Multi-Service Company Casablanca-Settat, along with Mr. Abdelkader El Kerssi, the provincial director of El Jadida from the same company, offered detailed technical explanations about the operation of the installations, their production capacities, as well as the technologies used in the desalination and demineralization processes of groundwater.
The ministerial delegation conducted a thorough inspection of the technical equipment at the stations, allowing them to assess the operational performance and reliability of the facilities. A tasting session of the produced water was also held to verify its quality. The delegation members and accompanying journalists unanimously praised the purity of the water, noting that its taste and characteristics met current drinking water standards.
These mobile desalination and groundwater treatment stations utilize advanced technology to produce high-quality drinking water. Their implementation aligns with a strategy aimed at addressing water stress by mobilizing unconventional resources.
With a production capacity of 25 liters per second, these two units installed in El Haouzia cover approximately 15% of the potable water needs for the municipalities of Azemmour and Sidi Ali Ben Hamdouche. This project, carried out by the Regional Multi-Service Company Casablanca-Settat, thus exemplifies a concrete and innovative response to the challenges of water security in the region.
