Fire at Gimhae Airport: Seven Injured in Emergency Landing of an Air Busan Aircraft

Seven people sustained minor injuries Tuesday evening in a fire that broke out aboard an Air Busan aircraft on the runway of Gimhae International Airport in Busan, South Korea, according to a report by the Yonhap news agency.
The incident occurred around 10:30 PM local time when the plane, which was departing from Busan and heading to Hong Kong, caught fire at the rear of the aircraft. All 169 passengers and seven crew members were evacuated via emergency slides.
The fire was brought under control just over an hour after the incident. Firefighters reported that seven individuals, including four crew members, were hospitalized primarily due to smoke inhalation and back pain.
Despite the fire, Gimhae Airport continued to operate normally the following Wednesday, although eight Air Busan flights were canceled.
This incident comes just one month after the worst aviation disaster in South Korean history, which took place on December 29, when a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crashed following an emergency landing in Muan, resulting in the deaths of 179 people.
