Aïd Al-Adha 2026: The CGEM calls on the private sector to grant an exceptional day off on May 29.

The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) has invited private sector companies to grant their employees an exceptional day off on Friday, May 29, 2026, in celebration of Eid al-Adha.

A Recommendation for Businesses

In a communication directed at its members, the CGEM emphasizes that this recommendation aligns with the public authorities’ decision to provide an exceptional holiday for public administrations and local communities.

The employers’ organization encourages businesses to allow their employees to enjoy an extended break during this festive period.

A Holiday Already Confirmed in the Public Sector

The government previously announced that Friday, May 29, would be an exceptional public holiday for civil servants and employees of public administrations, in line with provisions related to Eid al-Adha, one of Morocco’s major religious celebrations.

A Decision at the Discretion of Businesses

However, the CGEM clarifies that this measure is optional and depends on the specific circumstances of each company, while urging businesses to consider the social significance of this holiday.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the balance between economic imperatives and social considerations within the Moroccan entrepreneurial landscape.
