Perspectives on Saudi Arabia – MCG24

Jeddah – Ibrahim Benshouaf | MCG24
Saudi Arabia today is a far cry from what it was just a few years ago. The change is evident in every aspect of life, a fact that any visitor can observe upon arriving in this blessed country.
During my current trip, I witnessed how major cities have transformed into modern and vibrant hubs, where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously, reflecting the spirit of Vision 2030.
In Jeddah, the surge in the tourism sector is particularly striking. Along the Jeddah Corniche, the transformations are clear: landscaped green spaces, upscale restaurants, and ambitious new projects all signal the city’s determination to become a global tourist destination.
However, development extends beyond infrastructure and large-scale projects; it also permeates daily life. Everywhere, there is a palpable wave of positive transformation: Saudi youth are more open and ambitious, and women are increasingly stepping into roles across various sectors, including airports, financial markets, arts, and sports.
Another aspect that particularly caught my attention is the country’s rapid digital transition. Thanks to innovative applications, government services have become more accessible and efficient, illustrating Saudi Arabia’s commitment to innovation and new technologies as essential pillars of its future.
It can be confidently asserted that a visit to Saudi Arabia today is a wholly different experience compared to the past. This nation, once perceived primarily as oil-dependent, is evolving into a model of sustainable development and economic diversification. These transformations are not merely projects on paper, but a tangible reality experienced by citizens, residents, and visitors alike, showcasing the success of Vision 2030 in reshaping the kingdom in unprecedented ways.
