Algeria-UAE: Algeria Announces the Break of Diplomatic Relations

Algeria Breaks Diplomatic Relations with the United Arab Emirates

Algeria announced on Thursday the severance of its diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, citing an increase in what it describes as "provocative or hostile acts" from Abu Dhabi.

In a statement, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that it had exercised restraint and responsibility prior to making this decision, while also highlighting the numerous attempts made to alert the Emirati side about the potential repercussions of their actions.

According to the same source, these warnings failed to halt the controversial behaviors. Algeria believes that the situation has escalated to a point where these actions can no longer be deemed "acceptable or tolerable" within the framework of relations between two sovereign states.

The Algerian government has thus determined to cut diplomatic ties with the UAE after exhausting "all avenues to preserve bilateral relations," as stated.

Additionally, the ministry mentioned that the UAE ambassador was received at its headquarters on Thursday and was officially informed of the decision. The ambassador was also granted a 48-hour deadline to comply with this directive.
