Reopening of Tétouan–Sania R’mel Airport Following Improved Weather Conditions

The National Airports Office (ONDA) has announced the lifting of preventive closure measures and the reopening of Tétouan–Sania R’mel Airport as of Saturday, January 31, 2026, following an improvement in weather conditions in the region.
A Decision Based on Technical Assessments
In an official statement, ONDA clarified that this decision was made based on thorough technical assessments that confirmed the restoration of required safety conditions. This operation was conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, local authorities, and all concerned parties.
A Preventive Closure Due to Severe Weather
The agency reminded that the temporary closure of the runway was decided on a preventive basis due to the exceptional weather conditions that recently affected the northern region of the Kingdom, temporarily impacting airport operations.
Ongoing Drainage and Monitoring Operations
According to the same source, technical teams carried out monitoring, drainage, and pumping operations, which led to a notable improvement in the situation. Water has been fully evacuated from the developed areas, while pumping operations continue to ensure the long-term safety and operational standards.
Infrastructure Ready to Resume Traffic
Finally, ONDA assured that all airport infrastructure is now operational, encouraging travelers to contact their airlines for information regarding the resumption and scheduling of flights.
