Classes in Taounate suspended until Saturday due to weather disruptions.

The Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Early Childhood, and Sports in Taounate has announced the extension of classes suspension on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, February 5, 6, and 7, 2026, across all public and private educational institutions, early childhood teaching units, and non-formal education centers in the province.

Decision Based on Weather Alerts

In a statement released on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the provincial directorate clarified that this measure follows the weather alerts issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology and is due to the ongoing unstable weather conditions affecting the region.

Prioritizing the Safety of Students and Staff

The statement further emphasizes that the decision takes into account the condition of the roads, mountain paths, and riverbeds, as well as potential flooding that could hinder transportation and pose risks. This measure is also part of the implementation of directives from the provincial monitoring unit.

The primary objective of this decision is to ensure the safety of students, as well as administrative and educational staff, in light of the current weather conditions.
