The Notary Profession Launches a One-Week National Strike

National Strike of Notaries: A Week of Protest
The National Federation of Notaries has announced a complete national work stoppage for one week in protest against Bill No. 16.22, which pertains to the organization of the notarial profession. This declaration follows what the federation regards as a disregard for its observations and proposals concerning the legislative text.
Details of the Strike
The strike will take place from March 2 to March 10, 2026, resulting in a complete halt of all notarial services across the country. This decision comes after a partial stoppage in February, marking a critical development in the profession’s ongoing resistance movement.
Demands of the Profession
The federation reiterated its refusal to allow the passage of the bill without considering its remarks and is calling on the Head of Government to engage in serious and responsible dialogue to revise the text. The aim is to ensure that it meets the expectations of professionals and facilitates the participative development of the profession.
Furthermore, it encourages the presidents of regional councils to hold press conferences to explain the motivations behind this action and raise public awareness.
Expected Impact
This strike is expected to delay various real estate, family, and commercial transactions that require notarial authentication. It highlights the stakes involved in the reform of the notarial system in Morocco, with Bill No. 16.22 at the heart of discussions to structure and regulate the profession.
