CAN Morocco 2025: A Record Global Audience with a 61% Increase

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 has experienced a significant increase in viewership, soaring by 61% and solidifying its position as one of the fastest-growing sporting events worldwide, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
In a statement released on its official website, CAF shared preliminary data provided by independent research agencies, indicating that this remarkable growth is driven by a record international media coverage facilitated by major media platforms in Europe and several strategic markets.
Expansion of Broadcasting Partnerships
CAF also emphasized that countries such as the United Kingdom and France have significantly contributed to the increase in viewership during the tournament. Moreover, the commercial partnership between CAF and the international sports marketing agency IMG has led to a 50% increase in the number of broadcasting partners in Europe and other key markets.
This expansion has resulted in the signing of new broadcasting agreements for the first time in several countries, including Japan, China, South Korea, Mexico, Greece, and Colombia, making the Morocco 2025 edition the most broadcast in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations globally.
A Growing Popularity in South America
In South America, the tournament has also seen a rising interest. In Brazil, the number of viewers surpassed 24 million, while in Mexico, nearly two million people followed the matches. These figures confirm the expanding audience for African football in this region and the CAF’s acquisition of new viewers.
Increased Visibility for Partners
The global media distribution strategy adopted by CAF, including the production of local editorial content and match summaries, has helped increase media visibility for commercial partners by over 65% in European and South American markets.
Notable indicators for this edition also include a 50% increase in the number of international broadcasters compared to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast and a 32% rise in the media value of partners in the European market.
Record Audiences for the Final
Financially, CAF reported a 35% increase in revenue from broadcasting rights in Europe, South America, and Asia.
The final of the tournament also recorded remarkable viewership in several countries. In the United Kingdom, over 3 million viewers watched the match on Channel 4. Meanwhile, in Germany, nearly 4 million people tuned in to watch the final on Sportdigital.
Finally, India has emerged as a promising new market for the tournament, with approximately 800,000 football fans following the final live on the FanCode platform.
