The Spanish Sports Council authorizes Olmo and Pau Victor to continue the season with FC Barcelona.

The Spanish Higher Council of Sports (CSD) ruled in favor of FC Barcelona on Thursday, allowing Dani Olmo and Pau Victor to continue playing for the Blaugrana club until the end of the current season. This decision comes in the wake of a dispute between the Catalan club, La Liga, and the Spanish Football Federation.
The CSD determined that the mixed commission, which had annulled the licenses of both players at the end of 2024 due to insufficient financial guarantees, was not competent to decide on this matter. In a statement, the supreme body of sports in Spain deemed this decision “null and void,” thereby reinstating Olmo, who was signed last summer for nearly €60 million, along with young Pau Victor in FC Barcelona’s roster.
The two Spanish players had been temporarily registered at the beginning of the season to cover for the injured Andreas Christensen, only to be removed from the official list due to financial fair play constraints. The club believed it had found a solution in January after selling the exploitation rights for the VIP seats at the ongoing renovations at Camp Nou to Qatari and Emirati companies for an estimated amount of €100 million over 20 years.
However, La Liga stated that no funds from this sale had been recorded in the club’s accounts, contrary to what had been certified during the transaction. Despite this situation, the CSD confirmed its decision to allow Olmo and Victor to continue the season wearing the Catalan jersey.
