Workshop Highlights Water Stress Issues at the 3rd Arab-African Smart City Educational Congress
As part of the 3rd edition of the Arab-African Smart City Educational Congress, Abdennabi EL MANDOUR, director of the Mohammed VI Museum of Water Civilization in Morocco, led a workshop focused on water stress and related issues in the Kingdom. His presentation provided a concerning overview of Morocco’s water situation, which is increasingly threatened by dwindling resources due to climate change, rising population pressures, and accelerated urbanization.
Drawing on the museum’s expertise, EL MANDOUR emphasized the importance of valuing traditional knowledge in water management and advocated for enhanced education about water culture from an early age. He highlighted the essential role of awareness campaigns in fostering a collective understanding of water urgency and promoting responsible behaviors.
This workshop aligns with the congress’s objectives to promote smart and sustainable cities. It generated significant interest among participants, paving the way for concrete discussions on ensuring equitable and sustainable water management in Arab and African societies.
