Local National Team Coach Praises Victory Against Zambia
Tarik Sektioui, head coach of the local national team, expressed his satisfaction with the 3-1 victory over Zambia on Thursday in Nairobi during the fourth round of Group A of the CHAN 2024. He emphasized that it was the players’ mental strength that made the difference.
"The players demonstrated strong mental resilience, allowing them to manage the match wisely and secure a well-deserved victory," Sektioui stated following the game. He commended the determination and collective spirit of his team, noting that despite several missed opportunities, they showcased individual technical skills and a better tactical sense compared to their previous match against Kenya.
Sektioui also highlighted the significance of the upcoming clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo, which he considers crucial for the tournament’s progression. "We must win this match, and for that, the preparation starts tomorrow. Time is of the essence," he asserted.
On his part, Youssef Mihri, named man of the match, emphasized the group’s collective spirit and tactical discipline, believing that the victory was fully deserved given their performance.
With this win, the Atlas Lions temporarily rise to second place in Group A with 6 points from three matches. The upcoming match between Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo, scheduled for later in the day at Kasarani Stadium, will determine the final standings in the group ahead of the last round.
