Arab Cup: A Decisive Match for Morocco Against Oman

The match between Morocco’s national A’ football team and their Omani counterparts, scheduled for Friday at 15:30 GMT+1, will be crucial for advancing to the quarter-finals of the Arab Cup being held in Qatar, as stated by the national team coach, Tarik Sektioui, on Thursday.

"The match against the Sultanate of Oman will not be easy, especially since the Omani team will be cornered and will be seeking victory to maintain their chances of qualification for the next round," Sektioui remarked during the pre-match press conference.

"This won’t be an ordinary match. It’s our last chance as well. Only a victory will enable us to advance to the quarter-finals and face Saudi Arabia in our final group stage match without pressure," Sektioui emphasized.

Commenting on the players’ mental state, the national coach asserted that their mental resilience, tactical discipline, and hard work are sufficient to overcome all obstacles, emphasizing that matches are won on the field through the efforts exerted.

National team player Anas Bach declared that the players are physically and mentally prepared to take on the Sultanate of Oman and secure the vital three points.

According to Bach, the national team aims to progress as far as possible in the competition, with aspirations to lift the trophy.

On the other hand, Oman’s coach, Portuguese Carlos Queiroz, highlighted the strength of the Moroccan team, noting their talented players who compete at the highest levels. He added that the Omani team would strive to leverage their strengths to emerge victorious in this duel.

"Oman will spare no effort to win this match and keep their chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals alive," he said, pointing out that this encounter would allow Omani players to showcase their talent and demonstrate the growth of football in Oman.

The Morocco vs. Oman match will be officiated by Paraguayan referee Juan Gabriel Benitez.

In their opening match, Morocco secured a 3-1 victory against the Comoros, while Saudi Arabia triumphed over Oman with a score of 2-1.
