The city has also stood out for its community initiatives aimed at raising citizen awareness and encouraging behavioral changes in favor of the environment.
Zero Waste: An Achievable Goal
In this context, the vice-chair of the advisory council stressed that the selected cities have demonstrated their ability to transform environmental ambitions into concrete actions, stating that “zero waste” is no longer just a concept but a solution applicable at the local level.
A Collective Mobilization Praised by the UN
For her part, Inger Andersen commended the commitment of citizens, local authorities, and the private sector in these cities, believing that these experiences can inspire other communities to accelerate the fight against pollution and the waste crisis.
Contributing to Sustainable Development Goals
This initiative directly contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11 related to sustainable cities, Goal 12 on responsible consumption and production, and Goal 13 dedicated to combating climate change.
