HEM Becomes an International University Starting in 2026
HEM takes a significant step forward in its development with the launch of the 2026-2027 academic year. The institution officially begins its activities under the status of HEM International University, having received authorization to open. This evolution marks a new scale for the institution, featuring an expanded academic offering and a new organizational structure.
Long associated with management training, HEM is now broadening its scope to encompass several disciplines in higher education. The new university aims to reinforce its role within the Moroccan academic landscape while enhancing its international outreach.
An Expanded Academic Offering
HEM International University now brings together several training poles. Its setup includes a Business School in Casablanca and Rabat, the Averroes Engineering School, a Faculty of Law, as well as a sector dedicated to Executive Education.
This new configuration is designed to enable the institution to offer programs covering various fields of study and respond to the evolving skills demands expressed by companies and economic stakeholders.
The official launch of this new structure was presented in Casablanca with the presence of several prominent figures, including Abdellatif Maâzouz, President of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council.
A Rethought Governance Structure
The transition to university status is accompanied by a new institutional organization. The governance involves LCI Education, CDG Invest (the investment subsidiary of the CDG Group), and Averroes Holding.
A General Directorate, a Dean, and a Strategic and Scientific Council complement this framework designed to support the university’s development.
According to Younes Slaoui, the Chairman of the Board, this transformation occurs in a context where professions are rapidly evolving, and companies are seeking new competencies.
Training More Connected to Businesses
The relationship with the professional world is one of the main axes of the new model. HEM International University aims to strengthen the connection between the training it offers and the concrete needs of employers.
Thus, the programs are expected to emphasize work-study arrangements and professional experiences to facilitate the acquisition of skills that are directly applicable in the job market.
For General Director Bouchra By, this direction is aimed at bringing academic paths closer to the realities and transformations of the job market.
Internationalization at the Heart of the New Strategy
HEM’s integration into the LCI Education network also serves as a lever to accelerate its international opening. The network comprises over 20,000 students across five continents.
HEM International University intends to leverage this presence to enhance student mobility, expand partnerships with foreign institutions, and offer more paths leading to dual degrees.
This international dimension is part of a continuation of collaborations already established by HEM with several foreign institutions.
A Historic Partnership with Paris Dauphine-PSL and IAE Paris-Sorbonne
Among the emblematic partnerships is the MBA developed jointly with Université Paris Dauphine-PSL and IAE Paris-Sorbonne.
This program celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Since its launch, it has allowed over 800 executives, managers, and entrepreneurs from Morocco and Africa to benefit from this training.
This experience constitutes one of the foundations upon which HEM International University aims to continue its academic and international development.
Research Takes on a New Dimension
The transition to university status should also enhance the role of research. The Research Center of HEM International University, chaired by Driss Ksikes, will focus on developing studies dedicated to economic and social transformations in Morocco and Africa.
The expressed ambition is to foster more interactions between researchers, businesses, institutions, and civil society to produce works that can shed light on the economic and social changes in the region.
With this change in status, HEM aims to evolve from an institution historically focused on management into a multidisciplinary, international university that is more connected to the needs of the professional world.
