Marrakech: Launch of the 4th Edition of “GITEX Africa Morocco”

The fourth edition of the “GITEX Africa Morocco” fair was inaugurated on Tuesday, April 7, in Marrakech, bringing together over 50,000 participants and more than 1,450 exhibitors from 130 countries. This event is recognized as the largest technology and entrepreneurship gathering on the African continent.

A Grand Opening with Authorities Present

The opening ceremony, held under the esteemed patronage of Mohammed VI, featured a speech by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch. The event was attended by government officials, national and international investors, representatives from public institutions, as well as speakers and personalities from various sectors.

Highlighting Africa’s Digital Economy

Organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, in partnership with the Digital Development Agency and Cown International, the fair serves as a major platform to accelerate the adoption of digital solutions that can enhance the continent’s economic resilience. This year’s theme, “Stimulating Africa’s Digital Economy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” introduces new sectoral spaces and strengthens several of its key areas.

New Spaces and Innovations

Among the new features are:

  • Smart infrastructure for data centers aimed at overcoming structural barriers to digital development in Africa.
  • A fintech and future finance space highlighting mobile payment solutions, financial inclusion through AI, and cross-border payment systems.
  • A future mobility area showcasing innovations in electric, autonomous, and connected transportation.
  • A sports technology hub offering smart sports facilities and solutions to enhance athlete performance and fan interaction.

Digital Security and Strategic Defense

The fair also emphasizes cybersecurity with a program in partnership with the General Directorate of Information Systems Security. The Strategic Digital Defence AI Readiness Summit serves as a high-level exchange platform to equip African digital enterprises and economies with the necessary tools to protect critical infrastructures against complex threats associated with artificial intelligence.

As a central hub for international digital cooperation, GITEX Africa Morocco continues to solidify its role as a driving force for an innovative, sovereign, and ambitious digital Africa, thus enhancing its impact across the entire African digital ecosystem.
