Souss Massa SRM: A Caravan to Entrench Workplace Safety Culture in Taroudant

Regional Caravan Promoting Workplace Safety and Health Visits Taroudant
On Thursday, May 7, the regional caravan for the Open Doors Week focused on workplace safety and health made a stop in Taroudant. This initiative, overseen by the multi-service regional company Souss-Massa, represents a significant organizational milestone. Coinciding with World Day for Safety and Health at Work, this event aims to instill a "zero accidents" culture as a core professional philosophy, evolving from mere occasional measures into a fundamental pillar of the company’s strategy. This campaign was officially launched in Agadir before being rolled out across all provincial departments in the region.
The professional event served as a platform for dialogue, bringing together administrative executives, technicians, and employees of the company to reflect the participatory approach adopted by the management. This method aims to enhance collective awareness of occupational risks. The diverse and rich program included both theoretical and practical components, transforming the provincial department spaces into demonstration workshops focusing on the prevention of electrical hazards, safe management of drinking water networks, and stringent safety procedures related to liquid waste management—fields that necessitate constant vigilance and high-precision technical equipment.

In an interview with MCG24, Mouad Belharoukiya, the provincial director of the multi-service regional company in Taroudant, emphasized that the awareness day aligns with the celebration of World Day for Safety and Health at Work. He stated that the company is actively promoting a true culture of prevention across all its services, with particular attention to the physical and psychological well-being of employees. He highlighted that preserving human capital is now a strategic choice, positioning the human element at the center of transformations within the public service sector in the province.

Mohamed Qallouch, director of the wastewater treatment station in Ouled Taïma, noted the progress made in accident prevention since the station’s integration into the multi-service regional company Souss-Massa. He pointed out that such training meetings enrich the knowledge of employees who face daily risky work environments, also praising the ongoing support and guidance provided by specialists in the field of safety.

Imad Benhar, a staff member within the multi-service regional company in Taroudant, mentioned that the open doors event provided an opportunity to update knowledge regarding health, psychological, and social risks in the workplace for both employees and subcontractors. He stressed the growing importance of psychosocial risks, which are often invisible yet have significant consequences, announcing upcoming training sessions focused on this aspect to better inform stakeholders about the dangers linked to work-related stress and psychological constraints.

The activities organized for this occasion went beyond technical presentations. They also featured an exhibition dedicated to personal and collective protective equipment, showcasing a new generation of helmets, insulating clothing, safety shoes, and intervention devices for hazardous environments. Awareness materials and educational posters were distributed to promote best professional practices and consolidate a management model based on prevention, vigilance, and shared responsibility for the protection of human capital and enhanced professional performance.

This caravan reflects the commitment of the Souss-Massa multi-service regional company to ensuring the safety and health of its workforce, paving the way for a more secure workplace culture in the region.
