Casablanca: The Development Project for the Lahjajma Area Enters a Concrete Phase

In Casablanca, the redevelopment project for the Lahjajma area has reached a new milestone and is beginning to take shape, marking the progress of a significant urban development in the Anfa district.

This program is part of a broader transformation initiative for Morocco’s economic metropolis. It aims to strengthen local infrastructure while improving the quality of life for residents in the neighborhood.

A Social and Sporting Urban Project

According to project details, the future Lahjajma area will incorporate several major public facilities designed to meet the needs of the local population.

The program specifically includes:

  • an indoor sports hall
  • a covered swimming pool
  • a mosque
  • an indoor market
  • cultural and social facilities
  • green spaces and an urban park
  • a public pedestrian plaza
  • as well as an underground parking garage

These infrastructures aim to create a multifunctional urban space that combines sports, culture, commerce, and leisure.

A Strategic Location in the Heart of Casablanca

The Lahjajma area benefits from a prime location, close to the Hassan II Mosque, the Atlantic coastline, and the residential Anfa neighborhood. This setting enhances the project’s relevance within a context of urban requalification and land valuation in a central part of the metropolis.

A Significant Investment for the Metropolis

The project consists of several distinct phases, including technical studies, project management, and the execution of the main construction works. The cost of certain components, particularly the sports hall, is estimated at over 120 million dirhams.

The construction timeline is set for approximately 24 months, reflecting a structured and gradual planning approach to the project.

A Long-Term Urban Requalification Vision

Through this project, Casablanca is pursuing its urban modernization strategy, which is based on creating integrated and better-equipped public spaces.

The goal is to enhance the availability of sports and cultural infrastructure while developing green spaces and communal areas that cater to the needs of residents.

A Catalyst for the City’s Appeal

The Lahjajma project is part of a broader initiative to transform Casablanca, aiming to improve urban attractiveness, facilitate public space usage, and support the city’s demographic growth.

It also illustrates a commitment to strengthening local amenities in key neighborhoods throughout the city.
