Royal Air Maroc Launches Direct Route to Essaouira

Royal Air Maroc Introduces New Direct Flight from Casablanca to Essaouira
Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is set to launch a new direct air service between Casablanca and Essaouira starting November 1, 2026. Operating twice a week, this new route aims to facilitate travel, enhance the tourism appeal of the city known for its trade winds, and support the economic development of the Marrakech-Safi region.
Twice-Weekly Flights Between Casablanca and Essaouira
Royal Air Maroc continues to strengthen its domestic network by inaugurating a new direct link between Casablanca and Essaouira as of November 1, 2026. Established under an agreement signed with the Marrakech-Safi region, this service will operate every Wednesday and Sunday.
The introduction of this route is expected to improve accessibility to Essaouira for residents, tourists, and professionals alike. It is also part of broader efforts to enhance connectivity among the Kingdom’s regions and to foster their economic and tourism development.
Hamid Addou, the CEO of Royal Air Maroc, emphasizes that this initiative aligns with the airline’s mission to promote Moroccan tourism internationally while facilitating domestic mobility. He notes that this connection will bring regions closer together and meet the needs of tourists, families, and business travelers.
Round-Trip Fares Starting at 800 Dirhams
To make this destination more accessible, the national airline has announced fixed fares for round-trip tickets. The price is set at 800 dirhams for economy class and 1,600 dirhams for business class.
In addition to the direct connection between the two cities, this new service will also enhance Essaouira’s linkage to Royal Air Maroc’s international network.
With Casablanca’s hub serving 86 international destinations, according to the airline’s information, travelers will benefit from additional connecting options to reach other locations.
Essaouira Aims for Better Air Connectivity
This new route represents an additional lever for the tourism development of Essaouira, a destination renowned for its historic heritage, Atlantic coastline, and cultural identity.
Its medina, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2001, is one of the city’s main attractions. Improved air accessibility could therefore encourage stays by both national and international visitors, while also supporting the activities of tourism professionals.
The launch of this route fits into a broader strategy aimed at strengthening the domestic air network. The goal is to mitigate the relative isolation of certain areas, facilitate travel between regions, and contribute to a more equitable distribution of tourism’s economic benefits.
