Casablanca Launches a Census of Unbuilt Land to Strengthen Its Fiscal Resources

The city of Casablanca has initiated a comprehensive census of undeveloped land within its territory as part of a strategy to optimize its fiscal resources and enhance urban land management.

This initiative follows the series of reforms undertaken by the metropolis in local taxation, particularly with the implementation of the recently revised tax on undeveloped land (TNB), aimed at boosting the revenue of local authorities.

The primary goal of this census is to accurately identify all undeveloped plots, update land database records, and reduce instances of underreporting or omissions within the tax base. This effort is also expected to allow for better urban planning and more efficient use of available land.

The operation utilizes geolocation tools and digital mapping, enabling detailed visualization of the land in question across the entire municipal area. This initiative is part of a broader modernization effort in the management of local resources.

According to local authorities, this move also aims to enhance the financial capacity of the city to support investments in infrastructure, public services, and urban development projects, especially in the context of rapid population growth and urban expansion.
