The products involved include phosphates, phosphoric acid, and other mineral raw materials, which play a key role in agriculture, fertilizer production, and various strategic industrial chains.
Spain imports approximately 80% of its phosphoric acid needs from Morocco, a reliance regarded as particularly significant by economic analysts. This situation places the Kingdom at the heart of the supply security for several sectors, especially in agriculture and agri-food industries.
The study emphasizes that this dependency is not merely a simple trade exchange but rather a part of an integrated value chain between the two countries. Moroccan raw materials are crucial at the start of many industrial processes, reinforcing their strategic importance.
In an international context marked by geopolitical tensions and a quest for secure supply chains, Morocco emerges as a key partner for Spain, and, more broadly, for the European Union.
