Clean Energy: GIZ Launches Extensive Study to Accelerate Decarbonization of the Moroccan Industry

German Cooperation GIZ Strengthens Its Commitment to Morocco’s Energy Transition

The German cooperation agency GIZ is continuing its commitment to Morocco’s energy transition with the launch of a comprehensive market analysis dedicated to clean energy solutions for industry. This initiative aims to identify opportunities for decarbonizing the national industrial fabric and to enhance the competitiveness of businesses in light of new international environmental requirements.

This study aligns with the dynamics of Moroccan-German energy cooperation and the efforts made to guide Moroccan industries toward low-carbon production models. It will evaluate the potential of clean technologies, identify the most promising sectors, and outline the necessary levers to accelerate the energy transition in industry.

The project comes at a time when Morocco is striving to reinforce its position as a green industrial platform while addressing challenges related to competitiveness, energy sovereignty, and access to international markets. Moroccan industries are called upon to gradually reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and to increasingly integrate renewable energies into their production processes.

The analysis will focus on market needs, available technologies, suitable business models, and financing mechanisms that could support the energy transition of companies. It is also expected to help shape future public policies and investments in the green industry sector.

This initiative is part of the national energy transition strategy of the Kingdom, which aims to develop renewable energies, improve energy efficiency, and support the emergence of new industrial sectors related to green hydrogen, Power-to-X, and low-carbon technologies.

Through this approach, Morocco reaffirms its commitment to making sustainable industry a driving force for economic growth, innovation, and job creation in the years to come.
