Fuels in Morocco: Storage Capacity to Reach 1.57 Million Tons by 2025

The storage capacities for diesel and gasoline in Morocco continued their gradual increase in 2025. According to the latest data from the Competition Council, the available infrastructure nationwide has reached 1.57 million tons, while sales volumes continued to rise despite a decline in the revenue of major distributors.

Storage Infrastructure Continues to Grow

By the end of 2025, national storage capacities for diesel and gasoline reached approximately 1.57 million tons, up from 1.56 million tons the previous year. This represents a 0.5% increase, according to the Competition Council’s report, which monitors the commitments of fuel distribution companies involved in agreements with the institution.

Major Distributors Dominate the Market

The report indicates that the nine largest wholesale distributors of diesel and gasoline have a combined storage capacity estimated at 1.27 million tons. This volume remained stable compared to 2024.

Collectively, these companies account for nearly 81% of the national total storage capacity, reaffirming their central role in supplying the Moroccan market with petroleum products.

Revenue Decline in 2025

Despite the stable storage capacities, the combined revenue of the nine companies, excluding marine fuel, stood at 70.4 billion dirhams in 2025. This figure reflects an 8.9% decline compared to the previous fiscal year.

This decrease occurs against a backdrop of fluctuating fuel prices on international markets and their repercussions on sector activity.

Sales Experience Slight Increase

In contrast, the volumes of fuel sold have continued to rise. Sales of diesel and gasoline by the nine distributors reached 7.45 billion liters by the end of 2025, compared to 7.32 billion liters in 2024.

This 1.8% increase highlights the resilience of domestic demand and confirms the strategic importance of the fuel sector to the Moroccan economy.

A Major Challenge for Energy Security

The development of storage capacities remains a crucial lever for enhancing the Kingdom’s energy security. Improving infrastructure helps secure the supply of the national market while supporting the evolution of the country’s energy consumption.
