Google Leads a $200 Billion Alliance to Accelerate the Race for Artificial Intelligence Chips

Google is preparing one of the most significant infrastructure funding projects dedicated to artificial intelligence, with an alliance estimated at $200 billion. The initiative aims to enhance the deployment of AI chips and computational capabilities while intensifying competition with Nvidia, the market leader.

According to the Financial Times, the project plans to supply artificial intelligence chips worth over $150 billion to Anthropic, relying on the TPU (Tensor Processing Units) processors developed by Google in partnership with Broadcom since 2016.

The consortium brings together several major players from the technology and finance sectors, including Broadcom, Apollo, Blackstone, and Morgan Stanley, as well as companies specializing in cryptocurrency mining that possess substantial energy capacities and digital infrastructures.

This initiative aligns with Google’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the dedicated AI processor market. Once reserved for its own data centers and cloud services, TPU chips are now being offered to external clients to compete with Nvidia’s solutions.

Simultaneously, Google plans to enhance its computing capacities by developing new data centers, particularly leveraging partnerships with cryptocurrency mining companies that have significant energy infrastructures to meet the growing demand for artificial intelligence.
