Marrakech Air Show 2026: Israel Showcases Its Defense Technologies

Marrakech Air Show 2026 Opens Its Doors with Notable Israeli Participation

The Marrakech Air Show 2026 officially kicks off on October 7, showcasing a particularly prominent Israeli presence. This edition sees several major Israeli defense manufacturers presenting their technologies alongside key international players in the aerospace, space, and security sectors.

From October 7 to 10, the Royal Armed Forces airbase in Marrakech will host nearly 200 exhibitors representing 27 countries. The 2026 edition reaffirms the internationalization of this Moroccan event, gathering American, European, Asian, Israeli, and Moroccan groups.

Diverse Israeli Presence

Notable among the participating Israeli companies are Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Elbit Systems, and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, along with Asio Technologies, Orbit Communication Systems, Shilat Optronics, UVision Air, and XTEND Systems, all coordinated through SIBAT.

These companies offer a wide range of technologies, encompassing air defense, drones, autonomous systems, communications, electronics, electronic warfare, precision strikes, and space applications.

This diversity reflects the evolution of defense technologies, which are now structured around ecosystems integrating multiple capabilities rather than simply standalone military platforms.

IAI Highlights Air Defense and Space Solutions

Israel Aerospace Industries showcases several of its solutions in air defense, precision strikes, and unmanned systems at Marrakech.

The company emphasizes the LORA, the Heron MK II drone, the collaborative combat architecture OPAL, as well as various satellite and communication solutions.

IAI also highlights its activities in converting passenger transport aircraft into cargo planes, as well as its maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.

Additionally, the company aims to leverage its participation in the show to explore opportunities for industrial cooperation in Morocco and the region, particularly relating to technology transfers and the development of local partnerships.

Elbit Systems Showcases Drones and Precision Systems

Another major Israeli player present in Marrakech, Elbit Systems, presents various technologies intended for air and ground forces.

Among the equipment on display are the Hermes 900 drone, the PULS rocket artillery system, the SkyStriker loitering munition, and the precision guidance kits LIZARD.

The company also showcases autonomous systems from the FUSE family, electronic warfare solutions, electro-optical sensors, aircraft protection systems, and various technologies dedicated to intelligence, surveillance, and target acquisition.

This array illustrates the growing convergence between drones, sensors, communications, autonomous systems, and precision capabilities within modern military architectures.

Evolving Military Cooperation Towards Industry

The participation of Israeli companies occurs against the backdrop of developing defense relations between Morocco and Israel since the restoration of diplomatic ties in 2020.

A military cooperation memorandum was signed in 2021. Since then, several Israeli companies have expanded their presence in the Moroccan market, particularly in the defense technology sector.

The air defense system Barak MX, developed by IAI, stands out as one of the programs associated with this cooperation.

The industrial dimension is also gaining increasing importance in discussions surrounding Moroccan defense. The expressed desire to develop local skills, attract investments, and promote technological collaborations is gradually accompanying equipment acquisitions.

Marrakech Becomes an International Technological Showcase

The Israeli presence is part of a trade show featuring large global groups such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Airbus, Safran, Thales, RTX, L3Harris, General Atomics, and Tata Advanced Systems.

Thus, the Marrakech Air Show serves as a platform for interactions between diverse industrial and technological models, involving American, European, Israeli, Asian, Turkish, Indian, and Moroccan stakeholders.

For Morocco, the benefit of such an event extends beyond the exhibition of equipment. The show also provides a framework for forging industrial partnerships, identifying suppliers, developing skills, and promoting the integration of Moroccan companies into the aerospace and defense value chains.

Towards Increased Local Technological Capabilities

The technologies showcased in Marrakech also reflect the growing role of digital technologies in defense systems. Artificial intelligence, drones, autonomous systems, electronic warfare, sensors, secure communications, and space technologies are now closely intertwined in numerous programs.

For Morocco, the development of these capabilities is a key aspect of its policy aimed at gradually strengthening its industrial and technological defense fabric.

The strong Israeli presence at the Marrakech Air Show 2026 thus stands out as a significant feature of this edition, although it does not encapsulate the entire scope of the event. The exhibition brings together a much broader array of international actors and presents Morocco with a platform to explore investments, industrial partnerships, and skill transfers.
