Weather in Morocco: Persistent Heat and Storm Risks This Friday

The weather is expected to be marked by relatively high temperatures in several regions of the Kingdom this Friday, June 19, 2026. According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, elevated temperatures will continue to affect the interior of the country, while localized thunderstorms may impact some mountainous and eastern areas.

High Temperatures Across Several Regions

Heat will persist in southeastern Morocco, the east and south of the Saharan provinces, the Oriental region, Saïss, as well as in the plains of Gharb, Tadla, and Rehamna.

Minimum temperatures will range between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius in the south of the Oriental, Saïss, southeast of the country, and the southern provinces. Other regions will see temperatures oscillating between 16 and 21 degrees, while the Atlas and Rif mountain ranges will record values from 9 to 15 degrees.

Risk of Localized Thunderstorms

Light rain accompanied by local thunderstorms is expected over the Middle Atlas and southern Oriental region. The sky will also be partly cloudy in the eastern Mediterranean coast with a slight risk of precipitation in some areas.

Relatively dense low clouds may form over the Atlantic plains, the Mediterranean coast, as well as the northwest of the southern provinces. These cloud formations could be accompanied by fog or light local drizzles.

Wind and Dust in the Oriental and South

Strong gusts of wind are anticipated in the Oriental region and the Saharan provinces. These winds may locally cause dust upheavals, occasionally reducing visibility in exposed areas.

Temperature Trends and Sea Conditions

Maximum temperatures are expected to experience a slight increase in the Oriental and southern provinces, while moderate decreases are forecasted for the rest of the country.

As for sea conditions, the Mediterranean and the Strait of Gibraltar will be calm to slightly choppy. Expect slightly choppy to choppy waters between Casablanca and Agadir, as well as between Dakhla and Lagouira, while the remaining Moroccan coasts will see generally calm conditions.
