Morocco’s Ambition in Artificial Intelligence
Morocco is steadfastly pursuing its ambition to become a major player in artificial intelligence across Africa. Gathered in Merzouga for the inaugural Rally IA Future Lab, more than 1,000 young individuals from across the Kingdom are participating in a national initiative focused on innovation, training, and technological foresight.
Launched by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, this event aligns with the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy, which aims to enhance the country’s digital competitiveness and prepare Moroccan talent for future job markets.
A Platform for Innovation and Artificial Intelligence
The Rally IA Future Lab brings together students, researchers, entrepreneurs, developers, and project leaders in an intensive program featuring workshops, specialized training, and mentorship sessions led by both Moroccan and international experts.
The goal is to empower participants to create innovative solutions that address the technological, economic, and social challenges facing Morocco and the African continent.
Anticipating Transformations in the Digital Economy
Beyond the training aspect, the initiative aims to anticipate the rapid developments in artificial intelligence and promote the emergence of a competitive national ecosystem in this strategic field.
Discussions and exchanges in Merzouga focused on several key themes, including the regulation of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, applied research, technological innovation, and digital sovereignty.
The Jazari Institute at the Heart of the Morocco Digital 2030 Strategy
Speakers also highlighted the ambitions of the national Morocco Digital 2030 strategy, which envisions the development of a network of excellence centers named the Jazari Institute.
This initiative aims to strengthen scientific research, advanced training, and collaborative innovation within digital technologies and artificial intelligence. The project aspires to create an environment conducive to the development of solutions tailored to Morocco’s needs.
Making Morocco a Regional Hub for AI
Through the Rally IA Future Lab, authorities seek to establish a permanent platform dedicated to skill development, innovation, and strategic discussions surrounding artificial intelligence.
This approach reaffirms the Kingdom’s commitment to positioning itself as a regional hub for digital innovation and utilizing AI as a lever for growth, competitiveness, and technological sovereignty.
