Morocco-China: Customs Authorities Strengthen Cooperation with Three New Agreements

Morocco and China have taken a significant step forward in their customs partnership. On the sidelines of the annual session of the Customs Cooperation Council held in Brussels, the customs authorities of both countries signed three agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation, digitizing procedures, and securing trade exchanges.

Three Agreements to Modernize Customs Cooperation

The Moroccan Customs and Indirect Tax Administration (ADII) and the General Administration of Customs of China concluded three cooperation agreements in Brussels during the annual meeting of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Customs Cooperation Council.

These new commitments aim to strengthen the relationships between the two administrations and support the growth of trade between Rabat and Beijing, in a context of enhanced economic partnership between the two countries.

Facilitating Trade and Enhancing Security

The agreements focus on information sharing, reinforcing mutual administrative assistance, and improving mechanisms for customs control.

They also envision closer collaboration in combating fraud, smuggling, and illicit trafficking, while promoting smoother trade operations through modernized procedures and knowledge exchange.

Cooperation Supporting Customs Digitalization

The two administrations also seek to develop their cooperation in the areas of digital transformation, risk management, and trade facilitation.

This initiative is part of the efforts undertaken by both countries to modernize their customs services, enhance transparency, and improve the competitiveness of international supply chains.

An Economic Partnership in Full Motion

The signing of these agreements comes at a time when economic relations between Morocco and China are accelerating, driven by the increasing number of Chinese investments in the Kingdom and the strengthening of trade exchanges.

Through this customs cooperation, Rabat and Beijing demonstrate their commitment to creating a more favorable environment for economic operators and supporting the development of trade flows between Africa, Europe, and Asia.
