Moroccans Become the Second Largest Foreign Buyers of Real Estate in Spain

Moroccans are showing a growing interest in real estate in Spain. According to the latest statistics published by the Spanish Notaries’ portal, they now hold the second place among foreign nationalities that have purchased the most properties in the country between May 2025 and April 2026.
The British remain in the lead with 8.08% of transactions made by foreign buyers, while Moroccans account for 7.83% of acquisitions, surpassing several European nationalities including Italians, Germans, and Romanians.
The data also reveals that foreign buyers now represent 19.44% of all housing sales in Spain, translating to nearly one in five transactions. This trend underscores the appeal of the Spanish real estate market to investors and international residents.
Moroccan presence is particularly significant in Ceuta and Melilla, where Moroccan nationals overwhelmingly dominate foreign property acquisitions. In Melilla, they constitute a remarkable proportion of transactions.
