Guizhou Tyre finalizes steps for a €255 million tire plant in Tangier.

The Chinese group Guizhou Tyre has reached a new milestone in the realization of its industrial project in Morocco, having completed the necessary administrative procedures in China for the construction of a factory specializing in the production of automotive tires in Tangier, with an estimated investment of €255 million.
The company announced that its investment subsidiary, Guizhou Qianjin Tyre Investment, received the foreign investment certificate from the Commerce Department of Guizhou Province on August 11, 2026. This marks the completion of the major regulatory procedures related to the project in China.
The future factory will be located in the Tangier Tech City industrial zone and is expected to achieve a production capacity of approximately 6 million tires per year, intended for passenger vehicles. It will thus become the second production unit of the group outside of China.
The project had already received approval from the Commission for Supervision and Administration of State-owned Assets of Guizhou Province. It was also registered with the provincial Commission for Development and Reform before finalizing other regulatory procedures related to foreign investment.
After completing the necessary steps in China, the group is now focusing its efforts on procedures related to its industrial establishment in Tangier. These include preparing the site, establishing its legal entity in Morocco, and obtaining the necessary permits before commencing construction of the factory.
The choice of Tangier reaffirms the region’s appeal for foreign industrial investments, particularly in the automotive sector and its component manufacturing. The city benefits from its strategic geographic position, robust port and logistical infrastructures, as well as a well-developed industrial ecosystem surrounding the automotive field.
Guizhou Tyre first announced its Moroccan project in January 2026, as part of its strategy to strengthen its international presence, enhance its production capabilities, and get closer to major global markets.
With an investment of €255 million and an expected capacity of 6 million tires per year, the project is set to bring new industrial activity to Tangier’s automotive ecosystem. It could also contribute to the development of local production of automotive components and enhance Morocco’s attractiveness to international manufacturers and suppliers.
