Netflix secures broadcasting rights for the 2030 World Cup in Spain and Andorra.

Netflix is continuing its expansion into live sports. The streaming platform has secured broadcasting rights for all matches of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra, confirming its commitment to diversify its content and attract an ever-growing audience through major sporting events.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the company announced that the agreement grants it the rights to broadcast all matches of the tournament in both countries. However, the financial details of the deal and the terms agreed upon with the relevant parties have not been disclosed.
The arrangement also includes the free broadcasting of certain matches on a national channel. This will notably cover all games involving the Spanish national team, as well as both semi-finals and the final, allowing the public to follow the main highlights of the competition without needing a paid Netflix subscription.
This acquisition is part of the platform’s strategy to bolster its presence in live sports, a sector characterized by increasing competition between streaming services and traditional television networks for the rights to major international competitions.
On the financial markets, Netflix’s shares rose by 1.13%, reaching $71.41, as investors closely monitor the company’s developments and ambitions in the digital entertainment sector.
