Rabat: UCESA and ECOSOCC Strengthen Cooperation to Accelerate African Integration

UCESA and ECOSOCC Sign Agreement to Enhance Economic and Social Participation in Africa

The Union of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions of Africa (UCESA) and the Economic, Social, and Cultural Council of the African Union (ECOSOCC) signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday in Rabat. This agreement aims to strengthen their cooperation and increase the participation of economic and social stakeholders in the development and integration policies of the continent.

The agreement was signed by Abdelkader Amara, President of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE) of Morocco and current President of UCESA, and Louis Cheick Sissoko, President of ECOSOCC of the African Union.

This partnership is designed to enhance consultation, share expertise, and implement joint initiatives on matters of common interest. It specifically aims to engage civil society organizations more deeply in the significant transformative efforts across Africa, particularly concerning the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Particular attention will be given to women and youth, especially in the areas of employment, skills development, innovation, mobility, and sustainable water resource management.

The signing of this agreement also marks the first official activity held at the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of UCESA in Rabat. Through this collaboration, the two organizations intend to contribute to strengthening participatory governance and achieving the goals of integration and sustainable development in Africa.
