Baccalauréat 2026: Over 1,000 inmates pass the regular exam session

The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) has announced that 1,074 inmates successfully passed the ordinary baccalaureate exams in 2026 as independent candidates.
Out of the 2,466 candidates who took the exams, the overall success rate reached 44%, surpassing the national average for independent candidates, which stands at 37.4%.
A Remarkable Progress Compared to 2025
According to the DGAPR, the number of candidates who passed has seen a remarkable increase of 147% compared to the ordinary session of 2025. This growth illustrates the concerted efforts made towards education and reintegration within correctional facilities.
This progress also reflects the increasing commitment of inmates towards their educational and academic qualification journeys.
Over 800 Candidates Expected for the Retake Session
The Delegation noted that 868 inmates will have the chance to take part in the retake session, which represents 35.2% of all candidates who sat for the exams this year.
This second opportunity could lead to even better overall results for this edition of the baccalaureate.
Many Honors Achieved
Among the successful candidates, 409 individuals received honors, ranging from “Fairly Good” to “Very Good.” These results account for 38.08% of all laureates from correctional facilities.
This performance highlights the efforts of inmates engaged in educational paths aimed at reintegration.
Education: A Crucial Lever for Reintegration
The DGAPR praised the achievements of the inmates and encouraged them to continue their studies and perseverance in their academic endeavors.
The institution also urged prison administration directors to intensify their efforts to provide optimal preparation conditions for candidates participating in the retake session.
