Moroccan Automotive Sector Leads Export Growth in First Half of 2026
The Moroccan automotive sector has firmly established itself as the primary engine of national exports in the first half of 2026, driven by the rise of the automotive industry, the expansion of industrial investments, and the strengthening of production capacities aimed at international markets.
According to the latest data published by the Foreign Exchange Office, automotive exports reached 93.65 billion dirhams by the end of June 2026, marking an impressive 17.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This performance ensures that the sector remains the leading export industry in the Kingdom.
The surge in performance can be attributed to significant growth in various branches of the automotive industry. Exports from the construction and assembly sector rose by 26.7%, reaching 37.93 billion dirhams, while exports in the wiring segment increased by 13.9%, amounting to 35.05 billion dirhams.
Simultaneously, the aerospace industry continued its growth trajectory. Exports climbed by 19.3%, hitting 17.32 billion dirhams. This growth was largely fueled by a 24.7% increase in assembly activities and an 8.6% rise in exports of interconnected wiring systems (EWIS).
Conversely, some export sectors experienced declines during the same period. Exports in the textile and leather sector fell by 6.5%, while the electronics and electricity sectors recorded a decrease of 4.4%. Exports of phosphates and derivatives also diminished by 2.3%.
The agriculture and agro-food sector continued its upward trend, with exports rising by 5.7% compared to the first half of 2025, bolstered by sustained international demand for Moroccan products.
In total, Moroccan exports reached 260.39 billion dirhams by the end of June 2026, reflecting an annual growth of 9.7%. This reinforces Morocco’s rising stature in international markets, primarily driven by the automotive and aerospace sectors.
