Laâyoune: Over One Billion Dirhams to Secure Drinking Water Supply

The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and the Wilaya of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra have launched and inaugurated several major projects aimed at enhancing and securing drinking water supply in multiple areas of the region.

With a total investment exceeding one billion dirhams, these projects particularly target the cities of Laâyoune and El Marsa, as well as the centers of Foum El Oued and Tarouma.

The main project alone represents an investment of 850 million dirhams. It is financed under a partnership agreement involving ONEE, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Equipment and Water.

These infrastructures are part of ongoing efforts to bolster water security in the Southern provinces, particularly in response to urban growth and the region’s tourist development.
