The BCIJ dismantles a terrorist cell linked to Daesh and foils planned attacks in Morocco.

BCIJ Thwarts “Extremely Dangerous” Terrorist Plots
The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) announced on Monday that it has successfully foiled terrorist plots deemed “extremely dangerous” that had reached an advanced stage of preparation. This operation, conducted based on precise intelligence provided by the Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), led to the dismantling of a cell linked to the branch of the Daesh terrorist organization operating in the Sahel region.
According to BCIJ, the individuals arrested had logistical and operational support aimed at preparing attacks that would threaten the safety of people, property, and public order in Morocco.
Simultaneous Arrests in Multiple Cities
Security forces carried out simultaneous arrests of ten individuals during operations conducted in Agadir, Taroudant, Casablanca, El Hajeb, Tétouan, Fquih Ben Salah, and Safi.
Among the suspects is a former detainee pursued under anti-terrorism legislation, as well as a minor. Investigations conducted by specialized services traced the activities of this cell and highlighted its connections in several regions of the Kingdom.
Seized Weapons, Homemade Explosives, and Extremist Documents
Searches conducted at the homes of the accused led to the seizure of several knives, military uniforms, digital media, and manuscripts detailing the procedures for manufacturing explosive devices.
Investigators also uncovered recordings containing texts of allegiance to the Daesh organization as well as messages with explicit threats of carrying out attacks on Moroccan territory.
Modified Vehicle and Equipment for Attacks
During an operation in a warehouse located in Inezgane, security services discovered an off-road vehicle that had been modified to run on butane gas. According to preliminary investigation findings, this vehicle could have been used in a suicide attack or a ram-raid operation targeting sensitive sites.
Investigators also seized several gas cylinders, pressure cookers containing nails, electrical cables, a welding machine, switches, light bulbs, and various solid and liquid chemical substances. These items will undergo technical analysis to determine their composition and intended use.
Judicial Investigation Ongoing
The ten suspects have been placed in custody, while the minor has been placed under surveillance in accordance with current procedures.
The investigation is being conducted by the BCIJ under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office handling terrorism cases to identify the full extent of the cell’s connections, its potential supporters, and the circumstances surrounding the preparation of these terrorist plots.
