Chinese group Shengtai invests 2.29 billion dirhams in an integrated textile hub in Morocco.

Chinese Textile Investment Set to Transform Moroccan Industry
The Moroccan textile sector is on the brink of a significant new Chinese industrial investment. The Shengtai Group has announced the signing of an investment agreement for a project valued at nearly 2.29 billion dirhams, aimed at creating an integrated textile complex in Morocco.
Named the "Shengtai Morocco Green Textile Industrial Park," the project will encompass several stages of the production chain, ranging from spinning and weaving to dyeing, finishing, and garment manufacturing. This integration will allow the group to better control costs, improve quality, and reduce delivery times.
Shengtai Intelligent Manufacturing Group Co., Ltd., listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange under the code 605138, specializes in the textile and apparel industry. The group already has a significant international presence, with its overseas activities accounting for approximately 66.83% of its revenue in 2025.
In Morocco, the project is expected to span around 34 hectares, with the construction of multiple industrial units and infrastructure dedicated to various production phases. The complex is set to be developed in the regions of Fès and Skhirat.
The future hub will notably produce cotton yarn, woven and finished fabrics, as well as higher-value clothing items. The announced capacities demonstrate the project’s scale: approximately 100,000 spindles for cotton spinning, 10,800 tons of dyed and finished fabrics, and nearly 15 million meters of woven fabrics annually.
The group also plans a production capacity of around 22 million garments per year, primarily for international markets, including Europe.
Beyond industrial capacities, the investment is expected to have a significant impact on employment. The project could generate nearly 7,000 direct jobs and over 1,500 indirect jobs, leading to a total of more than 8,500 job opportunities.
This establishment is also expected to contribute to the development of Moroccan skills in various textile trades, particularly in areas related to modern technologies and integrated industrial production.
For Shengtai, the choice of Morocco aligns with a strategy to diversify its international industrial activities. The Kingdom offers privileged access to European and African markets, as well as a logistical and port infrastructure that facilitates exports.
The arrival of the Chinese group is particularly noteworthy for the Moroccan textile industry, as the project goes beyond simple manufacturing. It integrates several upstream stages, including spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing, which could enhance the integration of the national value chain.
This approach is also likely to foster the emergence of new suppliers and service providers specializing in industrial services, logistics, and various textile-related fields.
With this investment of 2.29 billion dirhams, Shengtai could thereby help establish a true integrated textile hub in Morocco, strengthening the Kingdom’s position as an industrial and export platform for international markets.
