Kuwait Condemns Infiltration by Armed Group of Iranian Revolutionary Guards on Boubyan Island

According to an official statement, the armed group infiltrated the island before being intercepted by Kuwaiti forces. Exchanges of fire occurred between the two parties, resulting in the injury of a member of the security forces prior to the arrest of the assailants.
Kuwaiti authorities have labeled this incident as a serious violation of national sovereignty.
Kuwait Denounces a Violation of International Law
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has deemed these actions a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, emphasizing that they threaten the security and stability of the region.
Kuwait has also urged Iran to immediately and unconditionally cease any hostile actions that could exacerbate regional tensions.
Commitment to Good Neighborliness
In its statement, Kuwait reaffirmed its historical commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and its refusal to use its territory or airspace to launch hostile actions against other states.
However, Kuwaiti authorities consider this incident to be a direct challenge to the country’s sovereignty and to international efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region.
The Right to Self-Defense
Finally, Kuwait has held Iran fully responsible for these events, asserting its legitimate right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
The country has indicated that it will take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and the population residing on its territory.
