OMI: No country has the right to close the Strait of Hormuz.

No Country Has the Right to Block the Strait of Hormuz, Says IMO Secretary-General

On Monday, April 13, Arsenio Dominguez, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), declared that no country has the authority to close the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation.

Reference to International Law
During a press briefing, he emphasized that international law guarantees freedom of passage and safe transit through straits used for international navigation, noting that any restriction of this right would violate international standards.

A Global Strategic Passage
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most crucial maritime routes, through which a significant portion of the global energy trade passes. This makes it a pivotal point for economic stability and international maritime security.
