Ports: The ANP Develops Its 2035 Strategy to Strengthen Morocco’s Logistical Sovereignty

National Port Agency (ANP) Launches Strategic Reflection for 2035

The National Port Agency (ANP) is embarking on a new phase of strategic reflection with the launch of a study aimed at developing its strategic plan for 2035. This roadmap aims to redefine the role of Moroccan ports in light of significant changes in global maritime trade, as well as new challenges related to competitiveness, logistical sovereignty, and energy transition.

Through this initiative, the ANP seeks to build an integrated vision of the national port system, enhance synergies among various port platforms, and tailor their development to the needs of the Moroccan economy.

Enhancing the Competitiveness of Moroccan Ports

The upcoming strategic plan focuses on improving the attractiveness of port infrastructures by emphasizing quality of services, logistical performance, and operational efficiency.

The Agency also aspires to clarify its positioning as the national port authority, while establishing governance mechanisms, management tools, and an operational roadmap that will support sectoral evolution over the next decade.

Addressing New Challenges in Global Trade

This strategic project takes into account the profound transformations affecting international logistics chains.

The resilience of infrastructures, the security of supply chains, environmental requirements, the digitalization of port activities, cybersecurity, and new maritime trade standards are among the key areas of focus identified by the ANP.

The goal is to equip Morocco with a port system capable of adapting to changes in maritime transport while consolidating its role as a logistical hub connecting Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

Better Integrating Ports with the Territories

The ANP also plans to rethink the distribution of functions among the various ports in the Kingdom to enhance their complementarity with logistical corridors, industrial zones, dry ports, and hinterlands.

This approach aims to optimize the flow of goods, improve territorial connectivity, and support major national infrastructure projects.

Logistical Sovereignty at the Heart of the Strategy

In response to geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions observed in recent years, logistical sovereignty becomes a significant challenge for the Kingdom.

The future strategic plan must strengthen the capacity of Moroccan ports to ensure the continuity of trade exchanges, secure essential traffics, and enhance infrastructure resilience against international crises. This vision aligns with the major guidelines of the New Development Model and national policies on competitiveness and investment.
