Qatar Welcomes Announcement of Ceasefire in Lebanon and Calls for Strengthening Calm
The State of Qatar welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, describing it as “a first step towards de-escalation and a reduction of tensions in the region.”
In a statement, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized “the necessity of fully respecting this ceasefire and building quickly upon this advancement to solidify the calm and prevent any escalation.”
Doha also expressed “its appreciation for the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump, whose mediation contributed to the success of this agreement.”
Furthermore, Qatar conveyed its hope that “this initiative will support regional and international efforts to establish a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the region.”
Earlier, the U.S. President had announced an agreement between Israel and Lebanon concerning a ten-day truce, as part of efforts aimed at “establishing peace” between the two parties.
