Seven Moroccans Awarded the Ibn Battouta Prize for Travel Literature

The Arab Center for Geographic Literature, “Irtyad El Afaq,” has announced the winners of the 23rd edition of the Ibn Battouta Prize (2024-2025), highlighting the achievements of seven Moroccan scholars.

In the “Verified Travel” category, Abdelhadi Kadioui, Houria Rifi, and Mohamed El Andaloussi were recognized for their studies on historical travel narratives. Meanwhile, Mohamed Mohamed Khattabi won the “Daily Journal” category for his work In the Footsteps of Christopher Columbus.

Moroccan entrants also excelled in the “Studies” category, with Abdelaziz Jadir winning for The American Journey to Tangier, Mohamed Naddam for Moroccan Travelers and France during the Protectorate Era, and Abderrahman Temmara for Echoes of Scenes.

The awarded works will be published by “Dar Souidi” in collaboration with other publishing houses. The awards ceremony will be held in Rabat and Abu Dhabi on dates to be confirmed.
