Major Solidarity Medical-Surgical Campaign in Es-Smara

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity Launches New Surgical Campaign in Es-Smara Province
The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity continues its commitment to equitable healthcare access by launching a significant medical-surgical campaign aimed at the residents of Es-Smara Province. Scheduled from December 5 to 7, this initiative seeks to address unmet needs in specialized consultations and surgical interventions.
According to the Foundation, this initiative mobilizes substantial human, technical, and logistical resources, with two operational sites set up within the provincial hospital of Es-Smara. The first site is dedicated to general and pediatric surgery, while the second, located in the outdoor courtyard, features a comprehensive setup for multidisciplinary consultations, screenings, and specialized care. A mobile cataract surgery unit is also deployed to ensure efficient and prompt patient care.
The program encompasses various medical specialties, including pediatrics, gynecology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and dental care. Surgical teams are set to perform over 100 procedures, and the multidisciplinary consultations are expected to benefit nearly 4,500 individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The logistics implemented include all mobile medical units of the Foundation, particularly in ophthalmology, dentistry, biology, ultrasound, and pharmacy. The Moroccan Medical Solidarity Association (AMMS) bolsters the operational framework, especially for cataract surgeries.
In total, 46 medical professionals—specialists, general practitioners, and surgeons—are participating in this campaign alongside paramedical staff and social workers, ensuring comprehensive support for beneficiaries. The operation is conducted in coordination with local authorities, the provincial health delegation of Es-Smara, the University Hospital Center of Agadir, AMMS, and the Higher Institute of Nursing Professions of Laâyoune.
Through this solidarity initiative, the Mohammed V Foundation reaffirms its essential role in improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations and promoting expanded access to specialized healthcare in the Southern provinces.
