Mini-Foot Championship Finals Leading to CAN 2025

Finals: The National Mini-Football Championship "The Road to CAN Morocco 2025"
The national mini-football championship "The Road to CAN Morocco 2025," organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, concluded Thursday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex near Salé, featuring finals for both the men’s and women’s categories.
This event, initiated in partnership with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), is part of Morocco’s preparations for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025. The 6×6 mini-football championship aimed to encourage young people to engage in sports while involving them in the national excitement surrounding the CAN.
The edition kicked off in mid-June and unfolded in three phases: provincial qualifiers, regional qualifiers, and finally, the national finals.
The closing day was honored by the presence of Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa. In the men’s final, the Marrakech-Safi team triumphed over Guelmim-Oued Noun with a score of 2-0. On the women’s side, Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima secured their victory against Drâa-Tafilalet through penalties (2-1, with regular time ending 0-0).
According to Kenza Abourmane, Director of Youth at the ministry, this final represents "the culmination of a major program supporting the organization of CAN 2025." She praised the enthusiasm and sportsmanship of the young participants, emphasizing their crucial role in the success of major events in Morocco.
The finalist teams viewed this championship as a unique opportunity to compete against rivals from across the kingdom. Ayoub Bourhim, coach of the Génération Solidarité Tanger association, expressed his pride following the victory achieved through a long journey that began with provincial qualifiers.
Meanwhile, the ministry organized several cultural activities to raise awareness among young people about hosting CAN 2025, covering themes such as combating violence in stadiums, citizenship, support for national teams, and promoting the sports economy.
