A Moroccan Delegation on an Economic Mission in Paris

A delegation representing the three regions of the Southern provinces – Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Guelmim-Oued Noun, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab – held a strategic meeting on Tuesday in Paris with the Movement of Enterprises of France (MEDEF). The purpose of this meeting was to promote investments in these rapidly transforming territories.

Promoting Business Opportunities in the Southern Provinces

Organized by the Moroccan Embassy in France and MEDEF, the meeting showcased numerous business opportunities outlined in the framework of the Enhanced Exceptional Partnership between Morocco and France. The projects focus on strategic sectors such as logistics, renewable energy, tourism, industry, fishing, and infrastructure.

French Support for the Development of Moroccan Sahara

This initiative reflects the positive dynamics of Franco-Moroccan economic cooperation and clearly demonstrates France’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara. It marks a new phase in transforming the Southern provinces into a regional investment hub and economic center for Africa.

A High-Level Moroccan Delegation

The delegation was led by Ms. Laila Hammouchi, Governor and Director of Local Public Services at the Ministry of the Interior, accompanied by the Moroccan Ambassador to France, Ms. Samira Sitail. It also included Ms. M’barka Bouaida, President of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region and of the Moroccan Regions Association; Mr. Yanja El Khattat, President of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region; and Mr. Mhamed Abba, representing the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region.

Participation of Regional Investment Centers

The general directors of the Regional Investment Centers from the three regions – Ahmed Khatir, Mohamed Jifer, and Mohamed Assouss – also participated in the meeting to highlight the structuring projects and support mechanisms for investors.

MEDEF Engaged with Strategic Projects

On the French side, MEDEF was represented by Gérard Wolf, Vice-President of the Africa Committee, alongside several business leaders from key sectors. They welcomed the prospects offered by the Southern provinces, viewed as a strategic crossroads for economic exchanges between Europe and Africa.

Expanded Discussions with French Institutions

The Moroccan delegation also held meetings with Bertrand Walckenaer, Deputy Director General of the French Development Agency (AFD), as well as with officials from the French Ministry responsible for Foreign Trade and Attractiveness, to explore new avenues for cooperation.
