The Ministry of Transport and Logistics Calls for Caution on the Roads

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics has urged all road users to exercise heightened vigilance due to a weather alert predicting heavy rainfall, snowfall, and gusty winds expected on December 16 and 17.

Weather Alert and Deteriorating Traffic Conditions

In a statement, the ministry indicated that weather conditions are set to worsen on Tuesday and Wednesday, urging professionals in passenger transport, freight transport, and school transport, as well as all road users, to strictly adhere to the traffic code.

Recommendation to Postpone Non-Urgent Travel

The Transport Department also called for the postponement of non-essential travel, advising drivers to monitor the weather situation both before and during their journeys and to stay informed about road conditions.

Inclement Weather: A Contributing Factor to Accidents

Emphasizing that poor weather conditions significantly increase the risks of traffic accidents, the ministry stresses the importance of checking the technical condition of vehicles and adjusting speed according to weather conditions and road status.

Safety Measures to Follow on the Road

It is recommended to avoid overtaking and sudden maneuvers, to be especially cautious during low visibility conditions or while driving on wet or snowy roads, and to exercise prudence on bridges and sensitive sections.

Protecting Vulnerable Users and Following Instructions

The ministry also calls for adherence to road signage and instructions from the relevant authorities, while giving special attention to pedestrians and cyclists, and avoiding crossing swollen rivers and ravines.

A Call for Collective Responsibility

In conclusion, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics reiterates its call for all users to take responsibility to ensure safe travel and to protect human lives across the entire national road network.
