Snow in Paris: Nearly 100 Flights Canceled at Roissy and Orly Airports

On Wednesday morning, around 100 flights were canceled at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports due to snowfall impacting the Paris region. The announcement was made by French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot during media statements.

Call for Vigilance Across the Country

The minister urged heightened vigilance throughout the national territory, particularly warning against freezing rain, a phenomenon that can be unpredictable and may abruptly disrupt travel plans.

Significant Air Traffic Disruptions

These cancellations, related to runway snow removal operations and aircraft de-icing, involve approximately 40% of the scheduled movements at Roissy between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and 25% of traffic at Orly between 6:00 AM and 1:00 PM, according to figures released by the ministry on Tuesday.

An Unusually Severe Weather Episode

Snow and ice were affecting northern and western France on Wednesday morning, a situation described by Météo-France as “rare in the current climate.” This event is expected to lead to significant road restrictions as well as further disruptions in air travel.
