Morocco: A Benchmark Model in Agriculture and Agribusiness (Senegalese Minister)

Senegal’s Agriculture Minister Hails Morocco as a Model in Agriculture and Agro-Industry
On Monday in Rabat, Senegal’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Livestock, Mabouba Diagne, declared that Morocco serves as a model to emulate in the fields of agriculture and the agro-food industry.
Following talks with Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, Diagne lauded the remarkable progress made by Morocco in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, horticulture, and food industries, highlighting the various agricultural value chains developed by the Kingdom.
“Today, the Kingdom of Morocco stands as a benchmark in these areas, and its successful experience serves as a vital source of cooperation and knowledge sharing across all value chains in these sectors,” he emphasized.
In this context, the Senegalese minister noted that his country imports over $1.6 billion worth of food products annually, viewing this demand as a significant opportunity for collaboration between the two nations.
He encouraged the Moroccan private sector to invest in Senegal, pointing out the plentiful water resources and the vast arable lands available. “We are working in partnership with the Senegalese private sector to build and develop national production, ensuring food security for our population and contributing to their well-being,” he stated. Diagne also reminded attendees of the presence of Moroccan banking institutions in Senegal, capable of supporting industrial operators in their projects.
For his part, El Bouari reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to supporting agricultural development in Senegal, expressing the Kingdom’s desire to share its expertise to strengthen Senegalese agriculture.
“In a spirit of partnership and complementarity, the two countries can work together on the development of the agricultural sector in their respective territories,” he added.
This meeting is part of the 15th session of the Morocco-Senegal Joint Partnership Commission.
