Weather Alert: Strong Winds, Snowfall, and Thunderstorms Expected in Several Regions of Morocco

The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a level “orange” alert, announcing significant weather disruptions in several regions of the Kingdom, including strong winds, snowfall, thunderstorms, and cold weather in the coming days.
Strong Winds on Monday
According to the DGM, strong winds of 75 to 90 km/h are expected on Monday, from midnight until 6 PM. The affected areas include:
Al Hoceima, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, M’diq, Fnideq, Tétouan, Tanger, Asilah, Figuig, Nador, Jerada, Oujda Angad, Taourirt, Berkane, Driouch, Guercif, Ifrane, Taza, Boulemane, Sefrou, and Kénitra.
Snowfall in the Mountains
Areas located above 1500 meters are expected to see snowfall:
20 to 40 cm: Al Hoceima, Sefrou, Boulemane, Taza, Guercif, Ifrane, Midelt, Béni Mellal, and Khénifra.
10 to 20 cm: Al Haouz, Azilal, Ouarzazate, and Chefchaouen.
This snowfall is expected to occur from Monday at 2 PM until Wednesday at noon.
Intense Rain and Thunderstorms
The DGM also forecasts intense rain and thunderstorms (50 to 80 mm) on Monday and Tuesday in the provinces and prefectures of: Tanger, Asilah, Ouezzane, Fahs-Anjra, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Tétouan, Larache, M’diq, Fnideq, and Taounate. The expected timeframe extends from Monday at 6 AM until Tuesday at noon.
Marked Cold on Tuesday
A cold spell is expected on Tuesday, with temperatures ranging from 0 to -6 °C in the regions of: Al Haouz, Azilal, Tinghir, Midelt, and Ouarzazate.
