Alert Bulletin: Heavy Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Expected

The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts strong and stormy rainfall, accompanied by a risk of hail and locally intense gusts of wind, expected on Friday, February 13, and Saturday, February 14, across several regions of the Kingdom.

Orange Alert in Several Provinces

In an orange level alert bulletin, the DGM indicates that rainfall accumulations are expected to range between 40 and 65 mm in the provinces and prefectures of: Al Hoceima, Khémisset, Béni Mellal, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khénifra, Sefrou, Taounate, Taza, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Ouezzane, Tangier-Assilah, Tétouan, and M’diq-Fnideq.

Moderate Accumulations in Major Urban Areas

Rainfall between 30 and 40 mm is also anticipated in Driouch, Salé, Rabat, Kénitra, Témara-Skhirate, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Meknès, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Benslimane, Khouribga, Azilal, and Guercif. These disruptions are expected from 06:00 on Friday to 06:00 on Saturday, with wind gusts possibly reaching 85 km/h.

The bulletin also predicts strong to locally violent winds, with gusts between 75 and 85 km/h affecting several provinces, including: Rabat, Salé, Kénitra, Meknès, Fès, Ifrane, Khénifra, Béni Mellal, Azilal, Nador, Oujda-Angad, Berkane, Jerada, Errachidia, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Tata, Guelmim, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Al Haouz, Tangier-Assilah, Al Hoceima, Taounate, Taza, Chefchaouen, Tétouan, Larache, and Fahs-Anjra.

The General Directorate of Meteorology urges citizens to be vigilant, especially in the affected areas, and to take the necessary precautions to avoid any risks associated with these adverse weather conditions.
